Music lessons / Ear Training
I am being a music tutor for living last 11 years.
Mostly singing, Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Drums, and little bit of Keys.
And I realized that my way to teach is about ear training most of time.
For instance, if you are my guitar student, I’d teach you how to be in time or groove, and how to pick up chords or notes from your favorite songs by ear.
This way, you will be able to jam with people and eventually you’ll be able to teach yourself easily.
I don’t want you to keep me forever.
You should graduate me ASAP. And it’s exactly my goal with you.
I bet most of normal singing teacher/tutor doesn’t teach you about rhythm or groove or even harmonization.
And you may concentrated to the way of projecting your voice because someone said to you that or you had a research through online.
I doubt it.
For me, it’s no point to train your voice itself if you are not musically good enough yet.
At least you should be able to sing in pitch and in time with right dynamics and accents.
My teaching priority will be:
1.Rhythm
2.Pitch
3.Dynamics
4.Sound(voice itself)
I don’t want to give you too much information at one lesson because you can be confused or freaked out.
So determinate priority is quite important for lessons.
It’s same as guitar or other instrumental lessons, I’d aim that you’ll be able to play any line or chord or beat or fill immediately after you listen them.
Doesn’t have to be super correct but you should at least be able to “fake” it without killing harmony or groove.
And then you’ll be able to jam with actual bands.
I’d rarely teach you how to project your voice too but not for whole lesson.
Because I have a great & simple method for it. And I am pretty confident with it.
Hope this resonated you.
